Somalia’s al-Shabaab warn Uganda of fresh attacks

BY NANGAYI GUYSON – Mogadishu – Somalia’s  al-Shabaab al-Qaeda-leaked group has   warned Uganda that it would face more attacks if it did not pull out of Somalia. In July 11 this year ,Somalia’s  al-Shabaab attacked Uganda’s capital Kampala in deadly suicide bombings that claimed the life of about 80 people. UGANDA: An app for lost loved ones

KAMPALA, 7 September 2010 (IRIN) – An online database of people separated from relatives by conflict or natural disasters can now be accessed by mobile phone, thanks to a joint venture between the UN, an NGO and two private sector companies. Chaos as Museveni seeks another mandate

The Ruling National Resistance Movement, NRM, starts an elective General Assembly today at the Nelson Mandela National stadium, amidst chaos. The assembly was postponed last week by the party Secretary General, Amama Mbabazi to pave way for the Uganda Cranes game against Palancas Negras of Angola on Saturday. Uganda Cranes had a comfortable 3-0 win. By midday on Monday delegates were still lined up to register with some claiming that their names are missing on the register. Security takes centre stage as Uganda opens AFCON Challenge

Uganda Electoral Commission chooses dates for the nomination of presidential and parliamentary candidates

The Uganda Electoral Commission has gazetted 25th and 26th October 2010 as the dates for the nomination of presidential and parliamentary candidates. By George Katongole (Uganda) –Engineer Dr. Badru Kiggundu, the embattled commission head, while announcing the dates at the Electoral Commission head offices in Kampala urged stakeholders to cooperate.
