Marketing Workshop For Filmmakers Worldwide

Filmmakers worldwide can apply to participate in a training workshop on film marketing in Luxembourg from December 1 to 5. Deadline to apply: October 15. The EAVE Film Marketing Workshop is a four-day intensive program exploring film marketing throughout the process of development, production, festival screening, exhibition and distribution. It will emphasize a “hands-on” and practical approach using current films and marketing techniques. The event’s working language is English. Journalists involved or interested in the mobile web can attend the Mobile Web in Africa 2010 conference, which will take place September 28 to October 1 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The mobile web refers to the use of Internet-connected applications or browser-based access to the Internet from a mobile device. Contest Seeks Short Films On Development Topics

Link TV, a television channel providing global perspectives on news, events and culture, is calling for entries of five-minute films that tell stories of progress in developing countries. These films will be entered in Link TV’s ViewChange Online Film Contest. Deadline: August 31. Submitted films may cover efforts to help end poverty, disease, hunger, conflict, inequality and illiteracy in developing countries. Essays On Food Security In Africa Sought For Publication

Journalists from around the world are invited to share their thoughts on how to approach the larger issue of food security in rural Africa, in the form of an 800- to 1,200-word essay. Deadline: July 31. Applicants must have a profile with Africa Rural Connect, a program of the National Peace Corps Association, which sponsors the contest. Essays will be judged by a distinguished panel of media professionals and academics with backgrounds in policy and food security, and the winning essay will be published in the Fall 2010 issue of World Policy Journal.
