Shout-Africa.com is organising a Dragon Boat Race on 25 May 2013 at a venue in London to be announced soon. The event will be a competitive social gathering of the many African communities and shall be opened by the Dragon Boat Race and will later proceed to a social gathering with catering provided by some of the African catering companies in the UK. Out of 250 manuscripts submitted by African writers across the globe, the manuscript Before We Set Sail was one of six shortlisted for the inaugural Penguin Publishers Award for African Writing. Before We Set Sail is the gripping account of the journey of eleven year old Olaudah Equiano as a slave boy within the deep interiors of West Africa in 1755 – 56. Internews-sponsored fellowships available for Annenberg-Oxford Summer Institute on Global Media Policy Journalists from developing countries, particularly those from post-conflict nations, can apply for a two-week fellowship at the University of Oxford. The Internews’ Global Human Rights Program offers ten fully funded media policy fellowships to attend the Annenberg-Oxford Summer Institute on Global Media Policy.
