Ghana Adopts Roadmap to Eliminate Malaria in Africa by 2030

27th African Union Summit – 17 July 2016

The African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) is commending the adoption of a comprehensive new roadmap to eliminate malaria in Africa by 2030. On Sunday, African leaders endorsed the Catalytic Framework to end AIDS, TB and Eliminate Malaria in Africa by 2030during the 27th African Union (AU) Summit in Kigali. The framework outlines a pathway to “eliminate malaria incidence and mortality, and prevent its transmission and reestablishment in all countries by 2030.” By building Africa-wide consensus, leaders have charted a pathway to malaria elimination.

The 6th Africa Water Week (AWW) has opened in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with a focus on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Water Security and Sanitation. Africa Water Week is a biennial Meeting convened by the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) in collaboration with the African Union Commission and other development partners. It is designed to discuss and collectively seek solutions to Africa’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Challenges.

The New York/New Jersey Chapter of the Annie Walsh Old Girls Association (AWOGA) will host an inaugural symposium on Women in Leadership on Saturday 9 July, 4:30pm – 10:00pm, at the Great Hall, Shepard Hall, City College City University of New York (CUNY). The symposium which is in partnership with Colin Powell School for Civic & Global Leadership, the Grove School of Engineering, and the Department of Psychology, City College of New York/CUNY will offer participants an opportunity to share and discuss ideas, experiences, and research through poster sessions, spotlight presentations and a panel discussion.
