Naomi Campbell Admits She Was Given Blood Diamonds

As the Charles Taylor’s warcrimes trial continues, the court was shown documents from the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund “categorically” stating that the charity had not received the diamonds, although records showed Campbell made cash donations to it in 1997 and 1998. Charles Taylor Trial: Naomi Campbell’s Appearance Postponed

Shout-Africa Correspondent – The UN backed special court has changed the appearance date of British supermodel Naomi Campbell. Miss Campbell was to testify in the war crimes trial of former Liberian President Charles Taylor on July 29. She will now appear on August 5. The decision followed a prosecution request for postponement of the appearance. Miss Cambell is to testify to diamonds she allegedly received from Mr. Charles Taylor in South Africa. UN Ceases Flights Into Guinea, Sierra Leone & Liberia

Shout-Africa News – NEW YORK — On West Africa, the World Food Programme (WFP) says that the UN Humanitarian Aid Service will cease all flights into Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia starting tomorrow. And this is due to a $2.5 million funding shortage. Without the air service, WFP says many of its operations in the region will not run as efficiently as required. One of the smaller services of the UN air service, the West African Coastal Service has been providing air transport for an average of 500 UN aid workers, among others, every month.
