Sierra Leone: Last batch of ministers take oath of office

His Excellency Dr Ernest Bai Koroma has urged newly sworn ministers and deputy ministers to act as key players in actualising the Agenda for Prosperity. He made this declaration on the occasion of the swearing in ceremony of the last batch of ministers and deputy ministers who successfully went through the Appointments Committee of the noble House of Parliament.

“As a government we have clearly defined the path that will serve as a guide to do what is expected of us”, President Koroma said, and went on to note that “We have clearly defined that path because the people of this country have endorsed our first term in office by giving us another mandate, and are now looking forward to us for results. I look forward to you to act as key players in actualising the agenda for prosperity”.

The Chief Executive also noted that some of the new ministers and deputies have served in government before, while “some of you are quite representative of the youth and women of this country. Our focus is to serve the people of this country and the moment of politics is now over as the people expect you to deliver”, he admonished.

President Koroma informed the newly sworn ministers and deputy ministers that the signing of performance contracts in the weeks ahead will give them an opportunity to know exactly what is expected of them, saying “I don’t expect people to go separate ways as you need to work as a team”. “I wish you all the very best of luck in your new assignment”, he concluded.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Hon. Kemoh Sesay who profusely thanked Almighty Allah, the people of Sierra Leone for putting their trust in President Koroma to deliver prosperity, and the president for his confidence in appointing them to serve their country.

The former Minister of Transport and Aviation and now Minister of Political and Public Affairs also said that in everything in life, one must always trust God Almighty for what God has destined is bound to come. “April will never come until March is gone”, he said amidst rapturous applause.
