New York based Made In Africa showcases African themed Valentine

By Dennis Kabatto – A huge number of Africans in New York City say irrespective of severe snowstorms and forecasts of more stormy weather on Friday, February 14 (Valentine’s Day) will not deter them from attending A Love Journey, A Story Told From An African Perspective – an African themed Valentine celebrations at the Botanical Lab in Manhattan.

A Love JourneyThe drive behind  “A Love Journey” is to promote modern African music, showcase African local artists and create a platform where guests can learn more about the different cultures in Africa, said Cedric Ajavon, an organizing member of Made In Africa, a New York City based entertainment organization that fuses live African musical performances, African Poetry and Interactive Networking Games.

“Made In Africa is about more than partying, it is a movement that supports all efforts geared towards presenting the many African cultures under a positive light. The organization’s main goal is to make African music mainstream,” Ajavon said during a live radio interview on African New Dawn Radio show that airs Sundays on Rutgers University’s WRSU, 88.7 FM in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

With many concerts happening in and around New York City on Valentine’s Day but you want to take your significant other or special someone for a romantic evening in an African cultural setting or even make new friends, Made In Africa’s organizers promise an ideal Valentine event that they say is bound to add spice in your romance.

Artists scheduled to perform include Congolese Rumba crooner Guespy Lumemo, Nigerian sultry singer/songwriter Yemi, Benin’s Afro Jazz Group Jomion & the Uklos, New York based Poet Ayoinmotion, Chadian Renaissance Poet Christian D. Koumtog and Nigerian Poet Shirley the Writer.
