Liberia’s Female National Team Arrives in Ivory Coast for Female WAFU Tournament

By Peterking Quaye, in Ivory Coast – Liberia’s Lone Star female national team arrived in the Ivorian Capital of Abidjan to participate in the maiden edition of the Female WAFU Tournament 2012. The championship, which has seen several deferrals in the past but it is geared towards the development of women’s football in the zone. The tournament scheduled for 28 September to 7 October in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire will now have five participants battling for honours. U.S. Embassy Promotes Sports Scholarships for Zimbabweans

By Yolanda Ndlovu – Harare, August 27, 2012: Many of Zimbabwe’s top athletes have benefitted from sports scholarships to various United States colleges and universities, a U.S. Embassy education official said on Friday. “U.S. colleges and universities provide over 150,000 sports-based scholarships worth more than $600 million from a field of 35 sports each year.  In Zimbabwe, this past year alone, nearly 100 students were awarded scholarships of which over ten were sports-based scholarships,” said Rebecca Ziegler Mano, the U.S. Embassy’s EducationUSA advisor in a  presentation on a “How to Apply for a Sports Scholarship” at the Embassy’s Eastgate auditorium.... Team Zimbabwe Olympics team set for final public send off in London

Somah joins the Swedish 2nd division outfit Harnosands FF due to results produced last season by another Liberian player.
