For  the child farmers in Irawo Owode, a sleepy tobacco farming community in Oyo state Nigeria the day began early. There is only one item on the agenda for each day and that is to report to the tobacco farms at seven in the morning and would terminate in another twelve hours. The ‘farmers’ trooped out in a convoy towards the tobacco farms  about a mile away.  To coordinate this crowd is Fatai Amusan. Senegal vows to handover former Chadian dictator ’s war crimes trial to AU

By Kemo Cham – Senegal has expressed determination to hand over the War Crimes case against former Chadian dictator, Hissene Habre, to the African Union. This decision was reached at the end of a cabinet meeting, last Friday, and made public in the form of a statement released to the media. “The President of the Republic has informed cabinet that the ECOWAS court considers that Senegal cannot try the former Chadian president,” the cabinet statement read. “He has thus committed to implement this decision by handing the Habre dossier back to the African Union.” This is in line with an...
