Lira- The big search engine Google on 9th October developed a doodle logo as a dedication to Uganda as it celebrates its 49 years of independence. The doodle logo with the independence day monument is seen above a search space on Google Uganda. The monument was constructed by the British Colonial Government just before Uganda’s first independence cerebrations on October 9, 1962. Panama City, 2 October (Lim Li Lin) –The Kyoto Protocol negotiations opened in Panama City on 1 October with developing countries continuing to insist that the second commitment period of emission reductions for Annex I (developed country) Parties is the cornerstone of the Durban outcome at the end of the year, and that this must be part of the two track outcome. By Shout-Africa Reporter – Liberia ranks number 1 in the newly released Financial Secrecy Index (FSI) 2011, whilst Ghana has been ranked the third most ‘secret’ country in Africa where illegal financial transactions thrive and the 44th out of 74 countries researched, according to the 2011 FSI. The research was conducted by a Kenyan-based international non-aligned coalition of researchers and activists called The Tax Justice Network Africa. The FSI 2011 shows that most secrecy jurisdictions are not in “sunny small palm-fringed islands for shady people”, but rather wealthier countries, such as the United States of America, United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan.... By Shout-Africa Correspondent, Dar es Salaam – The governments of Tanzania and Uganda have agreed to fast track the construction of a Tanzania-Uganda railway to facilitate movement of goods in the area and especially between the two countries which share a long history of cooperation. The agreement was announced yesterday after a one day state visit and talks between President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania and Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museven in Dar es Salaam.
