LIBERIA: LDS Boss Urges Liberian Students

By: WASH R&E – The Executive Director of the Lutheran Development Service in Liberia (LDS), Mr. Joseph S. Binda is urging Liberian students to exhibit several virtues in order to be productive in life.

Mr. Binda among other things, called on students to be positive in their thoughts regardless of their situation, expect more of their self, be patient, be humble, be prayerful, be consistent, be obedient to the Golden Rule, be creative and never envy anyone.

The LDS Executive Director was speaking over the weekend in Salala, Bong County, when he served as Key Note Speaker at the graduation and closing exercises of the Gormanlon P. Walker Public School.

Speaking about the essence of Forging Ahead, Mr. Binda said in order to forge ahead and productive in life, it is necessary that students take note of several virtues.

He named the virtues as: 1). Be positive in your thoughts regardless of the situation, noting that it said that thoughts creates actions. According to him, the process of turning one’s thoughts into reality is not always smooth.

 2). Expect more of Oneself and less of others-noting that life is only personal possession one has and should take responsibility of it, not depending on anyone else.

3). BE patient-noting that in order to be successful, one has to wait on God’s time and purpose.

4). Be humble-noting that one has to cultivate a spirit of humility if students are to be productive in life. Mr. Binda described a productive life as a life which one does only dream about or how to acquire worth for oneself, but you dream about how you can build sustainable institutions for the common good of humanity.

He further urged the School administration, parents faculty that the children are the future leaders. According to him, students are in dare need of preparation for future leadership  in order lead Liberia in the years come.

Mr. Binda said, on how Liberia will be in the next 30 to 50 years will depend largely on how well  young people (students) will be prepared for future leadership.

According him, parents have the challenge to help students for the great task that lie ahead.
