Face of Zimbabwe announces G-Tel Sponsorship deal

G Telecoms, a leading Zimbabwe telecoms company has been unveiled as the Headline sponsor for Face of Zimbabwe, a popular international pageant for Zimbabweans all over the world.

Face of ZimbabweG telecoms  under its brand Gtel is one of Zimbabwe’s leading retailer of mobile phones, accessories and internet based Bulk SMS Messaging services which allows individuals and corporates to send messages directly to mobile phones all over the world.

The sponsorship deal was announced at a press conference held at G Tel offices attended by officials from both institutions.  Speaking on the involvement of Gtel, Face of Zimbabwe Marketing Director, Mike Tashaya said: “We are delighted to work with G-Telecoms as the Headline sponsor for the 2012 competition as they share our vision of growing Face of Zimbabwe into one of the biggest celebrations of Zimbabwe at home and abroad through the beauty of our people and our many tourism attractions.”

To reflect, G-Tel’s long term commitment in the pageant, the competition will now be called G-Tel Face of Zimbabwe.

In its second season, Face of Zimbabwe is an international pageant which seeks to market Zimbabwe abroad through the beauty of its people whilst fundraising for charity.  The competition has so far attracted finalists from Zimbabweans based in South Africa, USA, China, UK, Malaysia, Canada, , New Zealand and Zimbabwe. The reigning Face of Zimbabwe 2012 is Sibo Bero, a Harare medical student based in China.

Confirming the sponsorship deal, G-Tel Marketing Manager, Robert Gonye said, “The popularity of Face of Zimbabwe, its international character and dynamic social structures and diversity gives opportunity for great exposure for our services which complement our marketing effort.  Face of Zimbabwe also provides us with multiple brand ambassadors and a very active social marketing platform.”

“We are also happy that we will be making a small contribution to the child sponsorship programmes locally through My Brother’s Keeper, the charity arm of FOZ, allowing us to give back to the community in which we operate.” He added.

The FOZ Marketing director, Mike Tashaya also announced that the 2012 Finals are to be held at HICC on the 15th of December. The winning prizes will include the use of a car for a year for the winner if they are based in Zimbabwe and a year’s secondment as a G-Tel brand ambassador. Significantly, if the winner is based outside Zimbabwe, they will get their university fees paid for a year.  The winner is also set to get $3000 as a cash prize, whilst the first and second runner ups will pocket $2000 and $1000 respectively among other prizes.

Asked what people should expect at the FOZ Finals in December he said “Zimbabweans should expect one of the biggest red carpet international event showcasing the beauty of Zimbabweans of all races.’ This will be a celebration of our diversity with Zimbabweans all over the world taking responsibility for telling the real Zimbabwean story and breaking international stereotypes about who we are, that’s what Face of Zimbabwe is all about.
