Ghana: Fidelity Bank’s lucky customer wins the Gold Bar

By Peterking Quaye – 30 March, 2011, Accra, Ghana for Shout-Africa.com – After six exciting months one of Ghana’s Banking company-Fidelity Bank has rewarded its loyal customers at the final draw of The “Go for Gold” campaign .Campaign was meant to encourage saving culture in all Ghanaians for a happy and comfortable future; the draw took place in Accra on 30th March at the plush Golden Tulip Hotel after a successful launch at the Silverbird Cinemas in the Accra Mall.

The well attended final draw saw several dignitaries including the His Excellency Vice President of Ghana ,John Mahama ,Governor of Bank of Ghana ,Dr. Kwesi Amissah-Arthur ,Deputy Finance Minister Hon. Fiifi Kwetey ,Dr.Joyce Aryee of the Ghana Chamber of Mines ,Hon. Nii Armah Ashittey ,Greater Accra Regional Minister and Hon. Hannah Tetteh ,Minister of Trade and Industry as the guest of honour. Government officials, businessmen, and staff of the company were in attendance from all the 25 branches across the nation, business executives, corporate entities, the press.

Shout-Africa.com, Ghana’s correspondent was at the event, can say the well attended event was graced with musical performance from SAMINI, Fashion Show of Gold and great fire works, the event organizer, Global Media Alliance were at their best.

The ultimate prize of a 24-carat 1 kilogram bar of gold, worth currently on the market at $76,000 US went to Eric Nii Boye Mensah of Ridge Tower Branch.

The Promotion was meant for also new customers to open an account and maintain a minimum of GHC300 or multiples of it for one month to get a coupon to enter both the monthly and grand draws. Existing customers alike, have to top up their accounts and maintain a minimum of GH300 or multiples of it for one month to qualify for the monthly and grand draws. Fidelity Bank with 25 branches in 5 regions across the country, it set to compete in the industry through its unique banking products and services.

He hinted that there will be ‘Go for Gold’ promotion 2 very soon, from the bank ,to continue to serve its’ loyal customer and also encourage all Ghanaians to participate in the next event ,as the bank is a truly authentic Ghanaian bank “we assure you that profits of this bank will be ploughed back into the Ghanaian economy for socio-economic development”.

10 winner were drawn in the final draw ,with Tudu Branch won two prizes ahead of all branches of the prizes to complement the 24-carat gold bar include all expense-paid holidays at places of choice in Ghana went to 3rd Prize winner ,Emmanuel Yeboah ,Atonsu Branch and 2nd Prize also a vacation trip to any destination on Africa went to King Marie of Tudu Branch , gold jewellery sets, wax prints, laptops, Ipad, and black berry phones as well home appliances such as washing machines and home theatres. Went to winners from 4th to 9th placed of the promotion.

In a speech delivered on his behalf, His Excellency the Vice President, John Dramani Mahama commended Fidelity bank for this innovative initiative, adding that it is very characteristic that the bank chose gold as its grand prize which seeks to promote Ghana’s most prized natural resource. He urged all Ghanaians to participate in the ‘GO FOR GOLD’ promotion.

Management of Fidelity Bank says the bank will be also using the campaign as a unique platform to raise funds to support children at the New Horizon Special School. Fidelity Bank will establish an educational fund for the school to offer the children a ‘golden experience’. The bank intend to expand it networks through increasing it ATMs numbers. In partnership with Ghana Post ,the bank will soon roll out 20 new Post Bank Branches countrywide before the end of 2011 .According to the Managing Director ,a team of investors fro Singapore are expected in the country to look at investing in Ghana and also the bank is set to launch an Asian Desk in Ghana and an office in Singapore to facilitate trade and financial transfers between Ghana and Asia.

He said management took the decision because it perceived that global political and economic power was shifting towards the East and that Asia’s economic power had raised in tandem with the trade flows into Africa.

Mr Effah said “by 2020, more than 1.2 billion people are projected to have a per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of more than 5,000 dollars in Asia.”
