By Gambian Correspondent – The President of the Gambia Chambers of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Bai Mattar Drammeh, last Thursday opened a new ICT company called “New Century”.
The opening of the company also witnessed the inauguration of the new showroom and office building of the newcomer in the ICT industry located right opposite Kotu Fire Station. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Drammeh said he was very much impressed to see young people in the country getting together, doing their own thing.
He said he was impressed with the trend and reminded the young entrepreneurs that quality is what should be their priority in the market. “IT must be supported; without the support of the IT sector, there would be no development because if you are not conversant with the new technologies you will be left behind,” he said.
Mr Drammeh implored the New Century boss and team to keep up the good work they are doing while assuring them of the chamber’s support. “Since you are doing the right thing at the right time, certainly the GCCI will support you, engage you, support your initiatives and stand with you as you grow by putting your knowledge into practice,” he said. “Your growth depends on your community and the community must be ready to support you, we have to get into the culture of supporting our own companies.
“Even salesmanship is now moving into the arena of IT, you have all types of sales being done, exchange is being done on the computer today and the old ways of doing business is dying and your business is in the center of it.
“We should all understand and support such enterprises as they begin to build; building is not easy, there are frustrations ahead of you, criticism ahead of you, leap services ahead of you, but you should put in mind that your aim is to succeed and be committed to your goal.” He told them to always look back and count their steps to know what they have done at a given time.
Amadou Ceesay, Chief Executive Officer of New Century, said his company is a technology consulting firm which specialises in IT solutions for companies. He said that a maintenance contract with New Century would translate to “save you time and money, protect your data, enhance PC performance, extend computer life, reduce likelihood of lost files, protect against threats among others”.
“We will offer you a supply of IT equipment, installation of your network, applications, maintenance of IT equipment or services and we will also guarantee you of anything that we sell to you, followed by a yearly maintenance contract,” CEO Ceesay promised.
