Liberia: High Level Committee on the post 2015 development Agenda:

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Commissioner Mothae Maruping discuss progress – The President of Liberia H.E. Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the President of the Republic of Liberia and the Chair of the High Level Committee (HLC) on the Post 2015 Development Agenda and Dr. Anthony Mothae Maruping, the Commissioner for Economic Affairs, African Union Commission met on 26th October 2013 in Monrovia, Liberia, to review the progress of the HLC work and to consolidate the way forward. This was contained in a release by the African Union Commission dated 5th November, 2013.

They also discussed on how the outcome of the ongoing work on the Sustainable Development Goals could fit into the work of HLC. The technical working group on the post 2015 Development Agenda has been working on incorporating inputs received from different stakeholders. The technical working group held its meeting on 25-26 October 2013 in prelude to the Sherpa meeting that was held on 28-29 October 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Sherpa meeting offered the unique opportunity for Sherpa, Permanent Representatives from New York and Geneva, and the Permanent Representatives Committee of Addis Ababa to come together to build consensus around the priority areas of the draft African Common Position on the Post 2015 Development Agenda (ACP) based on comments received from different stakeholders. The next meeting of the Sherpa is scheduled for 28-29 November, 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to discuss the revised draft African common position that includes the agreed upon priority areas. It was also agreed that the outcome of the currently ongoing “Africa Regional Meeting on Sustainable Development Goals” will be incorporated into the draft African Common Position on the post 2015 Development Agenda. -By Peterking Quaye ,Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
