Nigeria: Secure access to land a critical factor in addressing zero hunger

According to Food for Agriculture Organisation (FAO) report published earlier this year, despite progress made over the past decades, about seven hundred and sixty-seven million people globally have continued to live in extreme poverty, with half of them in Sub-Saharan Africa. The majority of the world's poor and hungry live in rural areas and depend largely on agriculture for their survival. However, their livelihoods are often constrained by limited access to resources such as land, services, technologies, markets and economic opportunities, lowering their productivity and income.

Nigeria: Veteran broadcaster announces pet project for girls – F3TC

A veteran broadcaster and an Assistant Director Programmes, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Mrs. Funke Treasure-Durodola who has worked with FRCN for eighteen years has announced a pet project for girls- The Funke Treasure Table Tennis Championship (F3TC). This is aimed at developing the girl child from the low-income families through sports and empowerment sessions in life skills. The competition, to hold annually in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, southwest Nigeria, will kick off this month, September 18 through September 21, 2018. Ahead of the Championship, two novelty matches have been held in Lagos and Ibadan respectively, themed "Media for F3TC".

Federal Government Approves 10 Year Validity For Nigerian Passport

The Nigerian international passport will now wear a new look of features and 10-year validity period. This is because the Federal Government has approved a 10-year validity period for Nigerian Passports. On this premise, the approval has been granted by the presidency to change the face of the e-passport 10 years after it was introduced in the country. Presently, the passports only have a five-year validity period.
