Liberia: Ghana humbles Liberia’s female Olympic team 7-0

By Peterking Quaye – Ghana’s female Olympic team, the Black Princesses have made it to the final round of qualifiers to the 10th All Africa Games to be staged in Maputo, Mozambique in September this year.

The Princesses put up a great performance to beat their Liberian counterparts 7 goals to nil at the El Wak sports Stadium as the game coincided with the local MTN Cup and CAF Champions leagues qualifiers in the country. After a painful 4-0 defeat in their own back yard, female ladies of Liberia suffered another thrashing by their Ghanaian counterpart.

The game was not given much precedent as many interviewed by shout-africa.com, wrote the Liberian female team off ,as they will not survive the day ,in terms of turning things around to beat their Ghanaian counterpart in their home. Head coach Lucretius Togba and Assistant, Winston Doe are ensuring that all is well with the spirited female side for the encounter.

The Liberian side, over the pass weeks, has been undergoing intensive training to thrash the Ghanaians. The team is currently in camp, gearing up to display their skills on Sunday to ensure total victory.

Lone star female delegation will need great number of energy to contain their Ghanaian counterparts during 90 minutes of action.

The score puts the Princesses 11 goals to nil on aggregate. They will now face Nigeria in the final round of qualifiers. The young Ghanaian player played the Liberian team with a degree of share inexperience but made use of their chances that fell to them .The Liberian team did not have much local support as the Liberian Community in did not show love to the team during the game .

Ghana’s best achievement at the All Africa Games in the female category was a bronze medal won by the Black Princesses in Algeria in 2007.

Captain Mercy Mylles, Cynthia Adobea, Alice Danso were all on the score sheet for the Princesses.
