By Peterking Quaye, from Accra-Ghana – Maputo 2011 All Africa Games have been released following the draw held on Monday in Cairo, Egypt. The qualifying series begins in January 2011 till July 2011, to determine the eight teams for both Men and Women’s competitions.
The 10th All Africa Games will be held from 3-18 September. A source close to Shout-Africa.com revels that the Liberia Football Association has unveiled prices to the international Weekend match between the female teams of Liberia and Ghana, bound for Sunday Feb. 13, 2011. The winner will face Nigeria in the final qualifier in April to determine which side secures one of the qualifying places at the games in Mozambique later in September.
News in Liberia according to a closed source to shout-africa.com have it that The Female U-23 national team has intensified training in Monrovia ahead of their international engagement with Ghana on Sunday February 13. Head coach Lucretius Togbe and Assistant Winston Doe are making sure all is well with the spirited female side. News from Accra, Ghana says the Ghanaians will arrive on Thursday with a 28 member delegation to honour the match, this first leg of the all Africa Games.
The Ghanaians are among the power houses in African female football . However, the young and unknown Liberian side is pursed to bring smiles to President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf who will be on hand for the match.Ghana won bronze at the 2007 All Africa Games in Algeria .
The Liberia Football Association has included the honorable chief patron of Sports, the Liberian leader madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on the committee to draw support for the upcoming international match bound for Sunday February 13, 2011 at the ATS in central Monrovia.
Since her ascendency, president Sirleaf has shown total love for all sports in the country. And, with a female encounter, more is even expected from the Liberian leader on Sunday in Monrovia. The committee to lend support to the encounter is headed by LFA EC member Sheba Brown.
Other members are EC Rochelle Woodsons, Businesswoman Laurine Shannon, Minister Varbah Gayflor, NPA boss Martida Parker, Jackie Capeheart and Euphiem Weeks, among others. According to the Spokesman of the LFA, the Liberian leader is asked to lend mammoth support in favour of a victory. The young female side is quite determined to showcase against one of Africa’s leading Female sides in Ghana.
The game will played in central Monrovia on Sunday February 13, 2010 with the return leg in a fortnight. The match officials will come from Senegal and Ivory Coast. Referee Amina Fall, first Assistant Referee is Die Alse Sylla and second Assistant Referee is Adja Cisse. Liberia’s Vivian Howard is Reserve Referee. The match Commissioner is Nathalie Basque and he comes from Ivory Coast.
