Nigeria: President Goodluck Jonathan says the battle against Boko Haram will be won soon

Nigeria's President, Goodluck JonathanBy CHINYERE Ogbonna – Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has assured the world that Boko Haram will be defeated in the north eastern states of Yobe, Borno and Adamawa in the next couple of days. President Jonathan gave this indication in an interview with the Voice Of America, VOA.

He said Nigeria cannot afford to leave any part of the country to the insurgents. President Jonathan who said that country is not unaware that members of the Boko Haram have an arrangement for training overseas, expressed optimism that their activities will be minimal soon.

He however made it clear that reclaiming their occupied territories may not stop them from carrying out their heinous activities with IED’s in public places like markets and schools. President Jonathan added that there is an arrangement with foreign technicians to train Nigerian military personnel on the operation and maintenance of the newly acquired military hardware.
