Reuters seminar on global security coverage open [Worldwide]

Print, broadcast and online journalists from developing countries can apply for funding to attend a three-day seminar in Turkey.

TrustMedia, a Thomson Reuters Foundation Service, invites journalists to apply to attend “Reporting on Terrorism and Global Security,” uniting security experts, authoritative commentators and journalists for a series of lively presentations and debates.

Topics will include the role of the media and how journalists can avoid being exploited by terrorists to help them achieve their goals, fragile states, the Arab Spring and its impact on al Qaeda and Islamist political parties, the impact of turmoil in Libya and Syria on the security of Europe, Middle East and Africa and much more.

Journalists from developed countries can apply, but only those from developing countries are eligible to apply for funding to cover travel and attendance costs. Applicants must be fluent in English.

Submit two essays and two work samples by May 31.
