The 3-day Teachers’ Empowerment Program was organized by the Servants of God Outreach Ministries (SOGOM Harvest) located in the ELBC Community, Paynesville, in collaboration with sixteen Americans from the Harvest Bible Chapel in Michigan, the United States of America.

The workshop which ran from Monday, June 27 thru Wednesday, June 29 brought together three hundred teachers from Montserrado, Grand Bassa, and Bomi Counties, as well as other parts of the Country.

The teachers were taught Lesson Planning, Classroom Management, Methodology in teaching with emphases to involve the principles of Christianity as they carry out their Teaching Profession.

Speaking to Journalists in Paynesville, an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the Grand Valley State University in Michigan, Dr. Paul Woo Dong Yu praised teachers in Liberia for their commitment and dedication in molding the minds of Liberian students.

Dr. Dong Yu said despite the limited instructional materials in Liberia, teachers are doing a significant job that is amazing by imparting the youth of the Country with the rightful knowledge.

Liberian Teachers at the 3-day exerciseDr.  Dong Yu challenged Liberian teachers to remain focused because the tasks they have in the rebuilding of their Country is great, and urged them to continue to sacrifice in  preparing  the Nation’s future leaders.

Dr. Yu who is visiting Liberia for the first time said when he gets back to the United States  he will discuss with his colleagues at the Grand Valley State University on how best to send some instructional material to Liberia for teachers.

Also speaking to Journalists, the Head of the Sixteen-American member delegation, Pastor Todd Hostetter, said he was impressed with the level of development that is taking place in Liberia.

Pastor Hostetter attributed the rapid development in Liberia to God’s Love for the Nation in a relative short period following years of civil unrest, and the commitment of Liberians to maintain peace and foster national development.

He said the Harvest Bible Chapel in Michigan will continue to partnership with the Servants of God Outreach Ministries (SOGOM Harvest) in meeting the spiritual and physical needs of the people of Liberia.

Pastor Hostetter also praised the General Overseer of the Servants of God Outreach Ministries (SOGOM Harvest), Rev. Moses Wheigar for his commitment in helping to mold the minds of the Liberian children by operating a Church School.

Meanwhile SOGOM Harvest General Overseer, Rev. Moses Wheigar disclosed that the coming of the Americans in Liberia is an annual event of the Church in building the capacity of Liberians through Religious Educational Training Programs.

Rev. Wheigar said the 3-day Training Program brought together over three hundred teachers, describing the exercise as very successful.

He said, SOGOM Harvest remains committed to its Christian values, and will continue to partner with the Harvest Bible Chapel in the United States, for the spread of the gospel in other areas, including Teachers’ Education.
