Letters to Shout-Africa

I request your help with an artistic commission by The Photographers Gallery in London <http://www.photonet.com/> ). The Photographer Gallery is the UK ‘s leading public gallery for photography.

We are currently undertaking a large-scale project which will run in conjunction with the Olympics 2012. The project, titled ‘The World in London ‘, will involve our commissioning 205 photographers to take portraits of individuals from every nationality taking part in the

London Olympics (205 nations), living in London . This a non-commercial project conducted solely for artistic purposes, The Photographers Gallery is a charity and has received public funding for this project. The project will:

– Celebrate the great diversity of London

– Be a ground breaking commission of photographic portraits

– Be presented in large outdoor public sites across London for six weeks during the Olympic Games.

One of the photographers we have commissioned, Anna Fox

http://www.annafox.co.uk/home.html, has requested that she take the portrait of a Zimbabwean born, London resident

The sitter needs to be:

– Born in Zimbabwe

– Living in London

– Happy to represent their country in this series of works

– Happy to have their image presented at an outdoor public site in London for c 6 weeks during the Olympic games 2012.

The Commission will involve:

– Ann visiting and meeting with the sitter for approximately one afternoon (may be less) during the last week of July

– the sitter will receive a copy of the final portrait chosen for the exhibition as a thank you for their time.

The commission needs to be completed by the end of July.
