Ghana: Offshore West Africa 2011 attracts International audience

…..15-17 March 2011 International Conference Centre, Accra, Ghana 21st March 2011; The 15th annual Offshore West Africa Conference and Exhibition returned to Ghana this year, and was held at the International Conference Centre, Accra. As the region’s premier conference and exhibition for the offshore oil and gas exploration & production industries, Offshore West Africa attracted over 1,100 attendees from 37 countries around the world.

Attendees to Offshore West Africa 2011 included many major operators, with over 20% of attendees coming from outside of the West African region. The international reach of Offshore West Africa is confirmed with attendees from as far afield as Brazil, Singapore, US and Canada, as well as good support from the UK and mainland Europe.

The official opening plenary session, sponsored by ExxonMobil, and including speakers from GNPC, Infield Systems and ExxonMobil attracted an impressive audience, followed by the Operators Perspective session, including content from GNPC, Tullow Oil and LUKOIL.

In addition, Conference sessions ranging from Floating Facilities to Lessons Learned from Safety Environment were well attended with a total of over 350 conference delegates throughout.

Over the 3 days, Offshore West Africa will deliver a high quality conference program with over 45 leading speakers including further presentations from Cameron, Technip, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), SAIPEM, Tullow Oil and many more, covering a range of subjects from Well Construction / Drilling Operations to Integrity Management.

To finish proceedings, Offshore West Africa 2011 held a Local Content  Special Session, including opening remarks from GNPC, GEnergy Consulting, National Oilwell Varco (NOV) and RDFC Holdings. This high energy panel discussion included notable audience participation from the 160 attendees to this session. This was closely followed by the Offshore West Africa Awards Ceremony, with awards provided for Young Engineer, Best Presenter and Best Technical/Innovation Presentation.

In addition to the conference, Offshore West Africa provided a rich exhibition of services and equipment, with exhibitors, including major operators, coming to Ghana from all over the world. With over 50 exhibitors taking part this 2011, Offshore West Africa Conference and Exhibition continued to go from strength to strength. Offshore West Africa continued to deliver exciting business and networking opportunities at an all engaging experience, where visitors and delegates alike were able to discover the latest products, technologies and important issues that face today’s offshore oil and gas industry

Offshore West Africa also announced that the conference and exhibition will be returning to Nigeria for the 16th edition in 2012. This will be held in on 24-26 January 2012 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, Nigeria.
