Ghana’s most prestigious 4th mass wedding on Valentine’s Day

By Peterking Quaye – One of Ghana leading radio station ,Happy 98.9FM will on Valentine’s Day, host a colourful wedding ceremony for a record number of fifty (50) couples. The much anticipated event will be held at the auditorium of the Accra International Conference Centre on Monday, February 14th 2011.This was made known in a released on Friday 4th February,2011 from the company signed the Station Manager .

The Happy FM Valentine Mass Wedding has grown in number and prestige. This year’s event, the fourth in the series, has attracted 50 couples from across the country. This year’s event have a joyful plan for three lucky couples to be flown to South Africa and Nigeria for a memorable honeymoon whilst the rest will enjoy their honeymoon in hotels across Ghana . The Officiating Minister for the ceremony will be Rev. Dr. Arthur Mensah of the Calvary Methodist Church, Adabraka, and Accra.

The Station Manager Bismark Brown explained that the management and organizers went through a tough time deciding on the final fifty (50) couples for this year out of the hundreds that applied to be part of the biggest marriage ceremony in the country.

He describe the event as one of the station’s community social responsibility initiatives that is hailed country wide, because it does not only bring joy and relief to couples who desire to have a white wedding but do not have the means to do so. It is also significant to the larger community because the ceremony offers an opportunity for the celebration of love (Valentine) in a more meaningful way. “The Happy FM Valentine Mass Wedding is a dream come true to many people, and we are happy the event continues to grow year by year” he added.

Happy FM organises a colourful white mass wedding for couples every year on Valentine’s Day. Over the past four years, the annual ceremony has seen close to a hundred (100) couples joined together in happy matrimony. To qualify for the wedding, a couple must have performed all customary rites and be recognised as husband and wife in the traditional way. The wedding ceremony will be followed by a Dinner Dance at the plush Tesano Royale Gardens in Accra .The event will be spiced with thrilling and soul touching gospel music performance from Ghana’s leading gospel musicians to thrill guests and couples to great tunes

Before the grand ceremony, all participating couples are taken through sessions of counseling, aired live on Happy98.9FM .Organizer expressed their heartfelt thanks to the numerous sponsors and supporters of the event over the years and this years.
