About 150 guests including a huge media/press turnout packed the second floor of Milk River – a Jazz & Blues Club and Restaurant that features a Caribbean/Asian inspired cuisine – for the official announcement and schedule of the festival.

Caribbean Fever and Irie Jam Media officials describe the three-day event which takes place at the new, luxurious multi entertainment complex the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York from Friday, August 30 to Sunday, September 1, 2013 as North America’s largest music festival featuring music from multiple genres “exclusively” from the Caribbean region.

The festival, which is part of Irie Jam Media’s 20th Anniversary celebration, will spotlight Creole and French Caribbean music, soca and root, rock, reggae.

Reggae’s current hottest performer Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley will headline Sunday’s root, rock, reggae line-up.

Festival producers affirmed that Haitian hip hop star Wyclef Jean, internationally acclaimed zouk band Kassav from Guadeloupe and Martinique and Tabou Combo will perform on Friday night while Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Edwin Yearwood, Alison Hinds and IwerGeorge will grace the stage on Saturday, which they describe as “Carnival Mania” night.

“We are very excited about this year’s three-night Caribbean Fever Irie Jamboree Music Festival featuring icons from different genres of Caribbean music each night in the heart of downtown Brooklyn. We had a successful press launch at Milk River in Brooklyn this week and announced the addition of Lady Saw to the impressive lineup,” said Anthony Turner, publicist of Irie Jam Media.

While there has been “a fair amount of soca music in the past, reggae music which is so vastly popular across New York City has never had its fans adequately serviced so we are happy to add Lady Saw to the lineup.  Dancehall Emperor and Grammy Award winner Shabba who was at the launch will be joined on the Irie Jamboree Sunday night by Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley, I-Octane and Capleton with more reggae acts to be announced before blastoff,” Turner said.

It is unprecedented for a three day reggae, soca and French Caribbean music festival of this magnitude in New York, only time will tell if Caribbean Fever and Irie Jam Media Group could pull it off successfully?
