Reggae and R&B Harmonize at Musical Evening of Love in New York

By Dennis Kabatto – Bronx based Lehman Center for the Performing Arts first musical presentation of the month of November on Sunday starring The Manhattans, reggae veteran Ken Boothe, together with fellow reggae acts, Pam Hall and L.U.S.T. is bound to solidify the 2300 seat concert hall’s reputation as one of New York’s premier showcase for international music, theatre and dance.

“The combination of The Manhattans, Ken Boothe, Pam Hall and L.U.S.T., is designed to bring an exciting and pleasure-filled evening of old and new school romance to the stage for our patrons.  We anticipate magical moments during every performance,” said promoter Rob Loague.

DJ Roy of Irie Jam Radio, 93.5 FM in New York will emcee and music supplied by Killa Boo and Supa Fridge duo.

Celebrated as one of America’s most popular R&B vocal group, The Manhattans whose career spans over four decades and best known for their platinum hit singles Kiss and Say Goodbye and Shinning Star have a reputation of engaging insatiable audiences in romantic ballad sing-along.

Based on experiences from previous performances, it is not offbeat to ascertain that Ken Boothe will perform his international reggae hit songs including Crying over You, Everything I Owned, The Train is coming and Antiebella among others.

Pam Hall, considered as Jamaica’s Song Bird has been on hiatus for a number of years.  She will surely try to reconnect with her New York fans by delivering some of her popular tunes No Time to Lose, Perfidia and Our Day Will Come.

And chances are reggae dancehall Quartet L.U.S.T. comprising of Lukie D, Trilla U, Singing Melody and Tony Curtis might be the opening act on Sunday.  Known for their fresh harmonizing vocal arrangements, they gained prominence after winning the 1997 TAMIKA Awards in New York

The coming together of R&B and Reggae for a worthy course really exemplifies a musical evening of love.
