Melissa Moyo Scoops Face of Zim August Title

HARARE beauty, Melissa Moyo has won the Miss August crown in the ongoing Gtel – Face of Zimbabwe competition becoming one of the 12 monthly finalists who will contest for the Face of Zimbabwe crown on December 15 at the HICC.

The win follows the crowning last month of SA based model, Yeukai Goremusandu who won the Miss July slot.  Melissa, who fended off competition from several other hopefuls, was ecstatic following the announcement, attributing her win to the huge support she received from the voting public,

“A million thanks to all those who voted for me and supported me in the Face Of Zimbabwe competition, because of you I have been crowned Miss August and running 4 the finals in December!!! #smiling4days#.”  She wrote on her social networking site Facebook page, receiving hundreds of congratulatory messages from friends and family including one from former Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, Rumbidzai Mudzengerere who wished her all the best in the finals.

Having received the highest public votes, Melissa also got thumps up from all 5 FOZ Judges, with USA based singer Cee Jay Besa describing her as beautiful, ambitious and a go getter. Another Judge, SA based model and actor, Melgin Tafirenyika, currently riding high with his new film ‘I Will Marry Myself’ due for release this month was impressed with her glamorous looks, describing her as a true example of beauty with brains.

In an interview with Zim Life & Style Magazine, Melissa who is enrolled to start her Business Studies degree at the University of Zimbabwe spoke of her passion and commitment to charity as part of her Face of Zimbabwe campaign.

“I strongly acknowledge the importance of lending a hand to the less fortunate within our community, this was instilled in me as a teenager and motivated to set up my own charity called Mel-M Helping Hand Zimbabwe to assist those in need”.  She said.

The Face of Zimbabwe, Marketing Director, Mike Tashaya recently revealed in an interview with a local radio station that the competition’s finals sponsored by G Telecoms are scheduled to take place at the HICC on the 15th of December. “Together with our Headline sponsors, G-Telecoms, we are looking forward to an event of international standards, showcasing the best of Zimbabwe’s Beauty and Tourism” said Mr Tashaya.
