Liberia: WaterAid Liberia calls for urgent government action on water as “first line of defence” against growing threat of climate change

WaterAid Liberia is calling for urgent action from the Liberian government and international community to include safe water and sanitation in their plans for dealing with the impact of climate change. There are currently over 1.2 million people - 27% of the population - in Liberia who don’t even have a basic water pump or covered well close to home, which is making it much harder to cope with the growing impacts of climate change.

Zimbabwe: Diaspora initiative ZimThrive announces calendar events

Diaspora enterprise, ZimThrive has announced key calendar events that will take place throughout the month of April 2020 in Zimbabwe. The month-long initiative, running under the theme Homecoming, will hold events in Harare, Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, Chimanimani, Nyanga and Kariba, among other destinations, from 1-30 April.

There is a need for journalists to always tell their stories using data from official statistics from government agencies such as National Bureau of Statistics. This was the advice of a Civic Technologist with the Code for Nigeria, a subsidiary of Code for Africa, Mr. John Eremosele at the Hack Hackers monthly engagement with journalists and data analysts in Lagos.

Media Expert urges journalists to be more sensitive in reporting crimes and conflicts
