By Peterking Quaye – In a release in Accra, dated 14 April 2011 says the West African Business Development Workshop and Exhibition (BIZDEX Accra 2011) will open in the Ghanaian capital Accra from May 31st to June 1st 2011. at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Under the theme, “Expanding your Business in West Africa: a Strategic Approach”, BIZDEX objective is to promote market development practices for SME to expand their operations in a more integrated West African Market. It offers information on opportunities and regulations regarding investments in key business areas, both in Ghana and other West African countries. The event is in response to the consistent calls of ECOWAS for a more intra-regional trade and the move from an ECOWAS of States to an ECOWAS of people. The event is an opportunity for local businesses in Ghana to meet prospective partners and clients from West Africa.
The two-day event will cover six workshops essential to doing business in West Africa: Trade Tariffs and Customs Duties across entry points, Transport, Logistics and Insurance in the Sub-Region: Options Available, Financing Business Growth: From local to Regional,Leveraging on ICT for Business Growth in West Africa, Creating Media Integration, opportunities for growth and Business Development Strategies and Success Stories in West Africa .
Key speakers and panelists will come from Ghana and West African countries. Local speakers include the Hon. Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms. Hannah Tetteh, Mr. Asare Akuffo, President of Private Enterprise Foundation and MD of HFC Bank, J. Mawuli Ababio, former MD of African Venture Capital Association, General Major Carl Modey, Commissioner of CEPS, Daniel McKorley, Founder & CEO of McDan Shipping, Patrick Prado, MD of Allianz Insurance, Dorothy Gordon, Director General of Ghana Indian Kofi Annan Center of Excellence, Matthew Boadu Adjei, Founder & CEO of OASIS Capital Ghana, Daniel Duku, MD of Venture Capitalist Trust Fund, Kwabena Agyekum, Executive Director, CIM Ghana among others.
